Made with love for one of my biggest fans, with her most favorite creatures! 😻🐲🌃
Welcome to our World, Baby!
Introducing Baby Kobel, coming end of October 2018! 😄💗😻💑
A few times, I created a baby room drawing for close friends who had their first babies... and now it's my turn! This drawing was made for the nursery, introducing Baby Kobel into our wild and adventurous world that he/she is being born into. It represents a few of the places my husband and I traveled to and lived in together. 🌎🌒🌞🌋🌆🌟😎
Dinosaurio
This drawing was made for a colored pencil workshop that I took in Bogota, Colombia. The task was to practice drawing on black paper, and to illustrate the following phrase: "When he awoke, the dinosaur was still there..." 😊
Balloon Wonderland
The idea for this drawing came from a little postcard with hot air balloons that I bought while in Germany. It had a "Where's Waldo?" type of game on it. I added my own "animal" touch to it.
Galapagos
During a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands, our guide pointed out an interesting scene to us while we were on a boat. There are tiny islands scattered throughout the archipelago, and on one of these were sitting a sea lion, a blue-footed boobie and a marine iguana, all next to a cactus. Our guide said that this little island was the epitome of the Galapagos, with the most common wildlife all in one little ecosystem! This obviously had to be documented upon my arrival back home :)
Turtle Tower
I came up with the idea for this drawing from Dr. Seuss's Yertle the Turtle, where the turtles form a turtle tower.
Baby Turtle
Rupert's little brother!
*For those of you wondering who Rupert is, stay tuned for a new, illustrated children's book coming soon! ;)

Dazzling Fish
You wouldn't know it from this on-line image, but I actually painted over her scales with glitter, so the Dazzling Fish is actually pretty dazzling in real life :)
Mermaid
It is not very often that you'll find people (or rather, creatures with human faces and arms) in my illustrations. This, however, is one of the few. Notice that I used the same blue drawing ink technique to show the fluidity of the underwater world.
Living Room Scene
If you look closely, you'll see how all of these animals are related to the Daydreaming Cat (see below)!
Colorful Friends
Colorful fish, Part II. Look closely though - does this look like an entirely colored pencil drawing? Even though I did try to play around with color blending to the MAX, I wanted something a little more exciting for the background: Drawing Ink! (Very similar to watercolor - same technique I used for the Seashells With Hibiscus drawing earlier) I blended the blue ink with water to lighten it up a bit, and then simply painted the background with a paintbrush. The beauty of this drawing ink is that it leaves streaks, giving the illustration a realistic, underwater feel.
Daydreaming Cat
My absolute favorite! I got the idea for this lovely cat when I was traveling in Italy. My friend and I were at a cute Bed&Breakfast, where they served us our morning tea with sugar packets that had pictures of different characters from Alice in Wonderland. My drawing is based on one with the Cheshire Cat.
Holiday Giraffe
This guy was similar to Happy Giraffe, except he was made for a holiday card for family friends. The card says, Happy New Year!
Cheburashka
For those who don't know, Cheburashka is a favorite in Russian children's books and movies. He is a furry, little creature with big ears. Here I wrote in Russian: Cheburashka wants to hug you!
Sea Creatures
Sea animals galore! This one was also a birthday card, it reads Happy Birthday! on the whale's tail.
Tree of Life
I got the idea for this drawing from Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life, however I added my own touch to it.
Seashells on Bench
This little cartoon was one of the last of the seashell series, a college drawing class assignment to chose any object and make 12 drawings of it. Desperate for just a couple more interesting twists on those boring seashells that I was so tired of drawing, I thought that personifying them would make for an interesting caricature. The scene in this drawing is open for interpretation ;O)
